Friday Fill-Ins: Dec 9

FFI

Anyone in the holiday spirit? I'm getting there. So...here we go!

1. As I neared the door, I found out the lock was almost destroyed.

2. Friday Fill-ins is what I'm reading right now. It's a Friday meme for bloggers.

3. I didn't start out this way, you just got so silent.

4. I can't force you to tell the truth.

5. The best way to live is live each day with GOD.

6. This is the reason I am happy!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to work, tomorrow my plans include working again and Sunday, I want to take a little rest before hitting work!

August 2011 Part II: Visiting Tagum's Christ the King Cathedral

After attending our friend's wedding at CAP Auditorium in Tagum, we're set to go back to Davao City to take part in some Kadayawan Festival activities. But we just can't miss one thing -- a visit to Christ the King Cathedral. Unsure of where it is located, we headed to Apokon Road and we asked several people about it. We hit the road going to the cathedral after we're sure of its location and this is what we found inside its vicinity:

The view is really great in there. It's a big place that can hold to a vast number of people. I love the cross at the back of the cathedral itself and the back view of the cathedral. Serenity of the place is also there. It's a quiet place good for reflection and discernment. The front view of the cathedral by the way includes the sculpture of two dolphins and some other sculptures. I've learned this was done by a famous Davao artist who's also responsible for making the sculptures found in People's Park. We enjoyed our visit there as pics were taken for souvenirs.

August 2011 Part 1: A Friend's Wedding

August is a joyous occasion in Davao City because of the celebration of the Kadayawan Festival which happens on the 3rd week. In this joyous celebration, a lot of events are held. There's the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan participated by a lot of contingents, the floral float parade participated still by the contingents plus the business firms, a "Kaan-Dawet" along Davao's city street (this year it was in Roxas Street) where there are a lot of foods stalls for the people to eat and a live band entertainment is there to amuse the general public, and who could ever forget the beauty contest which is the Mutya ng Kadayawan.

This year, August 2011, my friends and I took part in the said celebration. We, though, took part on the very last day of the said event on a Saturday. It was actually a whole day of fun for us, the berks, because we started so early and went home early morning of Sunday, the very reason why I have to blog it in different posts since I do not want to make a very looooong post for this entry.

Now comes the first part: A friend's wedding.--->

We started to gather as early as 9:00AM at McDonald's because we need to attend to a friend's wedding being held in Tagum City. With friends in tow, we took a 1.5-hour trip to Tagum City and went straight ahead to the reception in CAP Auditorium. I loved how the reception area looked like. There were fresh flowers in the area. The lighting was also given much attention to. We arrived at the area just in time for lunch. There, the couple Rose and Mark met us. Rose, a close of friend of ours, embraced us because it's been a long while since we last met up with her since she left for the UK. She was too happy to see us. Well, another friend of ours got married, and funny since the girls in the group wondered who would be the next of us to get married. Lol. We have witnessed some parts of the program. We saw the couple danced, the cake and wine ritual, the traditional opening of the bell with lots of goodies in it, the lovebirds ritual, and the bouquet and stocking tradition. We also took lunch to satisfy our hungry stomachs and went on with taking pics before leaving for Davao.

Here are the pics we got during Rose and Mark's Wedding:

We're so happy that our friend has finally found someone meant for her. We hope for a successful marriage for the both of you.

Mother Knows Best!

I kept mum about being linked to somebody to my mom over the years. I knew she ever had an idea ever since but I never told her about it. It was only two days ago, as we chatted on the phone, that I ever confirmed that to her. An immature act of the third person involved led me to open it up to her. It was actually funny, I mean the immature deed. It's just funny how this person can't seem to just move on when in fact she once mentioned in her Facebook status that she got reasons to be happy.

When telling this to my mom, she got no big reactions at all. Long before I told her about it, she already knew. The conversation I and Mom had was full of stories and tell-tales. We laughed over some things for hours and told her not to mind the persons involved in case they meet.

Deep inside, my heart was actually laughing about such immaturity.
I just hope she could move about. I hope she could get rid of such insecurity.
Everybody deserves to be happy, and I hope she could finally find it in her heart.
=)

Move On Girl

I thought it's all in the past. I thought everything's meant to be in the past.
But she hasn't moved on yet.
She's still the girl, the woman with insecurities along the side.

I thought you found your happiness.
Why insecurity is still in the picture?
You just made me realize that you're still living insecurely in what you made us believe your supposedly secured world.

July 2011 Manila Trip

I was indeed too lucky to be able to go to Manila and vice versa for only 155 Philippine peso. Funny coz the terminal fees, both in Davao International Airport and in NAIA Terminal 3, are more costly than my airfare. My special thanks to Cebu Pacific for my cheap flights and for continuously having affordable flights for every Juan. ;)

I was in Manila last July 22-25, 2011. I got no major reason to be there except for the fact that I just wanna spend my OFF days there, together with my friends whom I rarely see but often missed. I took a night flight of July 22 and I was glad that my friend, Joy, from my Ateneo days fetched me at the NAIA. It was past 10pm when I arrived. We immediately headed to their house in Las Pinas. As expected, we chatted until the wee hours of dawn. When I woke up, I was told that my friend left the house for work which I did understand. I had Manang, her house help, to offer me breakfast. She also left her laptop along with her wifi password for me to use. Really so nice and thoughtful of her to make me feel so welcome in their humble abode. After lunch of July 23, Manang ushered me to where the buses plying to Manila are stationed at. I knew I was then a stranger to that place but with my good vision and my ability to read, I well knew that I'd never be lost. When I reached Manila, I became confident because I'm a bit familiar with it already. I rode on a train via LRT heading to Taft where I'd be meeting my other friend Maf. It was glad seeing her after 4 years of not seeing each other. She's still the same, physically. Since my sister would be arriving from Palawan to Manila on that day, Maf and I had a side trip to NAIA 3 just to meet her. Aboard the Airport Shuttle for a minimal fee, off we went to the airport. There, my sister was waiting for us. We ate at Shakey's just inside the NAIA 3 and we took pics of the beautiful NAIA 3.

When my sister entered the boarding area waiting for her flight bound for Davao, Maf and I went to the Piazza at Venice in McKinley Hills. The view at night is spectacular. The catchy view which is the colorful fountain is very pleasing to the eye. I saw a lot of young people there and that was also the time when a band of promising artists had performed. There was also an ongoing bazaar at affordable prices. I just love the ambiance at the Piazza.

Since I'd gladly like to sing on a Saturday night, we went to a videoke/karaoke house in Makati CBD. There, we sang our heart's out. We danced and sang the night away.

Past midnight, we went home and this time, I stayed at Maf's house. Maf's family is very accommodating. Again before sleeping, Maf and I chatted. I had a good sleep too!;) The next day, Sunday, Maf had to work. We left their house and I stayed for awhile at Maf's work place in Makati while I waited for Joy's message. After an hour, Joy and I finally agreed to meet at Greenbelt along with Rems. We met at lunchtime and had lunch together at Conti's Pastry Shop and Restaurant along Greenbelt 2. I really loved the foods they have for their customers! All were so tasty and delicious, and they got big servings too! Tummy was so full on that day.

Afternoon of that same day, we met our friend Xtianne with hubby, Budi and we spent time just chatting and updating bout our own lives at Starbucks in Makati. I felt so good at that time because my Ateneo friend really took some time to spend time with me during my Manila stay.

My Manila trip 2011 is really one of my unforgettable trips because in this trip, I have had great memories spent with good friends.

Cebu Pacific's Piso Fare :)

Align Center
Proud to have availed this Piso Fare Promo last February 2011!:)

I was checking on my Facebook account sometime February before the Chinese New Year Celebration when a news feed from Cebu Pacific (we're FB-connected) announced that there's an ongoing Piso Fare promo. Without further ado, I logged in to their site to check if there were still flights available. At that time, I never had an idea where to go but because it's piso fare, I just considered many options. On first check, I was a bit disappointed because there were no promos found. I checked again on their FB account and there I saw a lot of bad comments about it from those wanting to take Cebu Pac's Piso Fare promo flights. Well, patience was in me at that time so I checked on the site again. Surprisingly, there were promo flights in place. When being prompted about where I wanna go, I first had in mind that I'd go visit Bohol again. However, I realized that I got more Bohol visits than in Manila so I opted to choose the Davao-Manila-Davao flights. After filling in the necessary details, I was surprised that I only had to pay 155 Philippine peso for that. Since I do not own a credit card, I opted to pay in one of their payment centers which is LBC. Copying all the booking details in my itinerary, I payed the amount required. After 48 hours of payment, I checked on my status and I got a CONFIRMED flight for July 2011 with a round-trip Davao-Manila-Davao tickets!

I was too happy being able to avail of the airline's Piso Fare Promo and still I'm hoping that I could get another promo fares soon. :)
