Saturday 9: Letters From the Sky

1. Do you believe that we will ever be contacted by beings from another planet? **No.

2. Have you or a family member ever traced your family tree? **Haven't done the family tracing but I have one friend who keeps on tracing her family roots and how we became as relatives!:)

3. Did you ever consider an acting career? **No WAY!

4. What is the funniest situation you’ve witnessed in a religious setting? ** Not an actual setting thought but in a tv series where the bride tripped off while walking along the aisle.

5. What's the first movie you remember ever seeing in a theater? **Can't remember.

6. What's the most difficult confession you've ever had to make? **Telling someone that I liked him.

7. What is a city that you have visited and hated? **None in particular.

8. Has anyone in your life been "they one who got away"? ** I think there's one..*sshhh*

9. Why do you think the 10 foot duck walked into the bar on Thursday Thunks? **Oh oh..sorry. I haven't read nor answered 'Thursday Thunks' this week ;)

My Sister's Surgical Operation

Because of the findings in my sister's ultrasound reports (they're about 6 reports since February til May 2010), her gynecologist recommended a surgical operation. The procedure indicated is Exploratory Laparatomy since her ovarian cyst already measures 6.9mm. Upon her consultation last Saturday, she was told of the date and time of the operation.

It was last June 23, 2010 when she submitted herself for operation. Later of June 22, 2010, she had herself admitted in a private tertiary hospital. Too bad, I was at work and I wasn't able to assist her. Thank GOD, mom's around for her.

When I got into the hospital where she was admitted, she was already inside the operating room. I was told that my brother was able to get a glimpse of her cyst which is likened to an egg yolk. It took 2 hours before she got back in her room.

Seeing her, I can still see the bravery in her face. She looked so tired and still drowsy but she was able to talk to us. I liked the fact that she's also cooperative which in a way lessened the anxiousness she's feeling.

My sister was discharged from the hospital yesterday and thank GOD, she's able to manage everything well. As of now, she's recuperating here at home, taking all the MD's advices, adhering to the therapeutic regimen required of her. Compared during her first operative days, she's now a bit active with walking to and fro her bedroom without assistance.

To all friends who prayed for her, to my family for the unconditional support, and to all well-wishers, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I also owe much from YOU, GOD for all the guidance, the love and the enlightenment.

I am wishing that my sis will totally be okay pretty soon!

Today we ripped this meme off a blogger and blog named Greeding Ruler. He does not state where he ripped it from. But, it was probably stolen there as well. Sunday Stealing: The Oh My! Meme, Part One

1. The phone rings; who don't you want it to be? **our ex-maid's friends!

2. When shopping at the grocery store, do you return your cart? ** I don't, hahaha! I just leave it at the counter.

3. In a social setting, are you more of a talker or a listener? **It depends on the situation. If the person is somewhat sad & depressed & keeps on talking, I'd rather listen. If am tipsy with friends? Haha, I knew I'd become talkative!

4. What was the last compliment that someone gave you? **Unanimously, they voted me as someone who taught them in the course of their training (*blushing*)

5. Do you play the lottery? **Nope.

6. If abandoned alone in the wilderness, who would you want with you? **Someone strong & not a coward so we have our way out from there the soonest!

7. Do you like to ride horses? **I don't know yet cos I haven't ride any.

8. Did you ever go to camp as a kid? **Unfortunately, No. We never had Girl Scouts in elementary.

9. What is your favorite party game? **The 'Bring Me' game!:)

10. If a sexy person was pursuing you, but you knew he/she was married, would you go for it? **It depends on his motive. If he's going to pursue me as his 3rd party, hell no! I am not going to go for it. If he's going to treat me out with friends for the sake of friendship, I'd go.

11. When was the last time that you lied? **Just recently, I think that was last Monday. They're 'white lies' though but it was still A LIE, hahaha!

12. Could you date someone with different religious beliefs than you? **I think so but I still prefer someone who has the same religious beliefs as mine.

13. If you have a S/O, who pursued who? If not, do you like to pursue or be pursued? **He pursued me hahaha! I don't like to get hurt that's why I don't have to pursue someone. I still like to be pursued.

14. Use six words to describe yourself. **sensitive, friendly, listener, compassionate, caring, blogger ;)

15. Name a song that could make you cry? ** None in particular but I usually cry with sad songs that goes along with how I am feeling on the time they're being played.

17. How do you feel about gun control? **Scared still, LOL!

18. If your house was on fire, what thing would be the first thing you grabbed? ** My documents!

19. How often do you have a romantic weekend? **I can't recall when was the last time I had it. Btw, I am single!;)

23. How tall is just right? ** At least 5'7 for a guy and 5'2 for a girl

To My Dad On Father's Day!:)

Words can't express how grateful I am to my Dad. He's been a great father to me ever since I've existed. He may not be that expressive but nothing can compare the love he has showered to his family. He's always been there for us, treat us really as a FAMILY. He may be strict but I know he always keeps an eye of what's really good for us. His all-out support to each of us is incomparable!:)

On this day, I would like to salute my Dad for being the 'Best Father' that he is to us.

I would also like to share this wonderful poem from Helen Steiner Rice which I found so meaningful:

After-Graveyard-Shift 'Lakwatsa!

I came from a graveyard shift yesterday. I was a about to go home when I thought of visiting my previous ward @ Pedia Main & had chit-chats with old friends. Little did I know that yesterday was also the day when they're sponsoring a seminar. Without having breakfast at all, I was with them, supporting them for their 'Childhood Trauma' seminar. I did not perform any role though. I was just informed to take a seat and be with the participants. I stayed there for only two hours because I decided to consult my lab result to a medical practitioner who told me to get my labs done. Before leaving, they gave me snacks for free.

Exactly 10.30AM, I visited my MD. She told me to have my repeat CBC done by Monday because I got an increased WBC. She said I should have consulted earlier and not after a week when all my labs were done. Since I wasn't sleepy yet, I decided to go to Victoria Plaza to do some inquiry at Unionbank. It was successful because I was able to deposit a little amount so that my EON ATM account could have some cash. 'Ate my lunch there & fortunately, I saw our former clinical instructor. We chatted for more than an hour I think. It was already past 2pm when I decided to go home.

I did have a good time despite my having lack of sleep. It was one of those rarest moments I had for myself. Thank really GOD for that single opportunity!:)

I slept for about 2 hours when I got home.

1. When was your last train ride? **last train ride?It was long, long ago - an MTR ride in Hongkong.

2. How many foreign countries have you visited? Tell us about one. **I've gone out of the country just once, in Hongkong.

3. What do you always take with you on vacation? **my low-cost camera hahaha!

4. Tell us about something you've lost recently. **trust to some people.

5. Do you prefer action packed vacations or relaxing ones? **I prefer relaxing ones to keep my body and mind at rest. ;)

6. How long will you wait in a check out line before abandoning your purchases? ** only for a few minutes

7. How old do you wish you were? **I wish I'm still 25, hahaha!

8. Do you consider yourself kind? **Yes.

9. Tell us about your tattoos. Or if you had to get a tattoo, where and what would it be? **I never had one but if I'd like to, I prefer having a tattoo in my ankle ;)

For My Sis

Family always matters to me. I've been considering them my 'precious gifts' since the day I got into consciousness. That whatever happens to my family, I always vouch myself to always be their shield & their strength no matter what. They're these people whom I can never trade for anything else in this world just so because they're my family.

Having my sister, is one great gift I am always indebted of to GOD. Much more when I knew that we almost looked the same where some even called us 'twins' separated at birth. We got our share of stories to tell about how we bond as sisters, how something could turn us to fight at each other on petty things which is inevitable, how we compromise to avoid misunderstandings, and how we stay strong for the trials in the family. These are what really made us tightened our bond, as sisters.

Recently, my sister has been put to test in terms of her health. She got this ovarian cyst that warranted her for a surgical operation. The time she knew this, I knew she's becoming anxious and worried. I even read her blog post that depicts how she's really feeling about her health. As her sister, I can't help but worry about her too. It also pains me in the inside to see her getting anxious and worried about it but I always try to maintain my composure as I always kneel down and pray to the Heavens that my sister will always be safe from any harm. Being the medical professional that I am, I am trying to make her feel at ease, trying to encourage her to tighten her grip on GOD, and submit herself to any therapeutic regimen required of her. After all, I knew GOD is always and will always be there for her. At least I am thankful now that she has gained the confidence to face her fears with me and the family's promise to be with her in fighting for this battle.

To my sister Aems, I hope you always stay positive. Never let your fears attack you. Instead, face your fears with optimism, believe that everything's going to be okay, and always believe in what GOD can do for you and for all of us. I promise I'll always be there for you Sis. You know that I care for you, you know that our family cares a lot about you, so take care of yourself too and stay positive. I know we can get through with this test, soon. Remember, it's not only your test but ours too.

Love you sis! I am pretty sure everyone in the family loves you too just like everyone else DO.

Friday Fill-Ins: #181

And...here we go!

1. Almost more than an hour this afternoon before hitting 6:58.
2. It was the reason, of course, that I tried to sacrifice for it.
3. Having you back as a friend is something I no longer feel the need to do.
4. I have another errand to run, then I'd hit the sheets.
5. Wanna know where my heart is?...just go find it
6. What were once vices are still considered as vices until today.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to sleep, tomorrow my plans include accompanying my sis to her doctor and Sunday, I want to hear mass after work!

Lovin' My June Work Skeds!

I think it's not that late to blog about this:

I am just lovin' my June work skeds! How can I not love it when during weekends, it's either I am OFF or I am in an AM shift! Sounds so cool to me since I love working on an AM shift during weekends which only means I get less people to deal with inside the nurse station. It won't appear so busy when there are only a few left inside during working hours. I also love the fact that I get to hear mass every Sundays which I've been wanting to do.

At least now my June skeds are as convenient as ever!

1. Have you ever wondered why snakes can't slither backwards? ** Nope, not really cos I knew they could never slither backwards. So hard to slither backward using its tail. *eww!* 'hating snakes as a topic!

3. Do you enjoy hiking? **Yes! It makes me exercise my muscles.

4. Is there a color of a shirt a man should just never wear? **None in particular. They can wear it on any color they like. Guys can even wear pink!

7. If you could save an endangered species, which one would it be? ** Bohol's tarsier cos there are only few of them left these days.

10. Do dogs in your neighborhood howl when they hear sirens from police cars or fire trucks? **Yes.

11. Have you tried doing something as an adult that you used to be able to do as a kid? **Cooking rice - since I was taught how to do it when I was still 7 years of age ;)

My Saturday Offday!

Last Saturday was another off day for me. Instead of staying at home on that day, I decided to go somewhere else with my friend. We finally decided we should spend time mall hopping. First stop, we're at Victoria Plaza. I was told Paolo Paraiso, a Filipino celebrity, was there which I was really aware of because Paolo Paraiso himself informed his Twitter followers that he' be at Victoria Plaza on that day at a specific time. True enough, I saw Paolo Paraiso. I got a bit shy to approach him but I did support his quest by donating an amount for cancer-stricken children.

Next stop? We watched a 'Dog Show' sponsored by the Davao Canine Sports Club. I was so fascinated with how the trainers trained their respective dogs! Their dogs are like humans because they knew how to follow instructions! I even thought of having a pet dog (again!) but I guess one should be really capable enough to handle it. With my sked at work, I knew I am not ready yet to take care of one.

After spending some time at Victoria Plaza, we headed to Gaisano Mall. My stay at Gaisano Mall won't be complete without satisfying my gut with a Big American Waffle Ice Cream from Spike's Frozen Treats! Then we decided we should eat dinner while waiting for my sis who's joining us there. We had Pasta Platter which we bought in a certain food kiosk @ Spazzio. Thank GOD really because we've gone so full! When my sister arrived, it was time we bought tickets to watch 'The Karate Kid'. After she bought her food, it was time we got inside the cinema. Whew! I got so hooked with Jaden Smith's moves! I even found him so cute. Her dad, Will Smith and her Mom, J. Pinkett, must be really proud of their son. The whole movie was great!

It was about 11:30 when I got home & I had fun!:)

Saturday 9: Goodbye to You

1. Have you had to say goodbye to a good friend or lover because they were moving? **Yes, when my friend migrated to the States with her family.

2. Have you ever wanted to use personal information about someone to sort of "blackmail" them? If yes, tell us about it. **None.

3. What two things influenced the choice of your present job or to stay at home? **to my present job? My influences include my passion to do it & I just love to be with people.

4. Do you like warm weather? How warm does it get where you live? What is the best way to spend a hot, summer day? **I like a warm weather but not too warm just like where I live now. I hate that 'sweating moments' brought about by a warm weather. The best way to spend a hot, summer day? To be with either my family, friends, or a special someone on the beach ;)

5. What do you find "hot" in a man/woman? What is the first thing you notice about someone who is hot? Do you ever think of yourself as hot? **Hotness is when I get to see a guy who has great eyes and a great body;) I don't think I'm hot but there's this young guy who once told me that I am hahaha!

6. Are you quick to anger? How do you react when you are angry or frustrated? What do you do to cool down? **I don't get angry easily. When I got provoked, I usually vent them out. Music makes me cool down.

7. In your family, who is the least like the rest of you? **I can't really point on one. I like them all ;)

8. What are a few great books that you've taken along to the beach or on vacation in years past? If you aren't a big reader, what do you do to while away the lazy hours? **I usually bring fashion mags to while away the lazy hours.

9. Do you like going outside during a thunderstorm and watching the lightening? **No way! I usually go to my room and hid myself under the sheets.

Silence Hurts!

We argued. You've gone mad. Our friendship had gone shaken since then.

It's been months now. It's been exactly four (4) months since that incident - the incident which I didn't expect to happen. In these four months, I only wish for one thing - that YOU come out, say something about how you really feel, and decide whether YOU still want me as a friend or not. The reason why I still hope is because I still can't accept the whole fact that that supposedly simple yet a bit striking statement of mine could really put an END TO OUR FRIENDSHIP. I mean we've gone through a lot and we never faced any arguments until your mind was stirred with that one single statement I said.

Your SILENCE hurts. Don't you get that?
Your not wanting to communicate anymore also hurts.
But I still need you to speak out.
I want to know what's really on your mind.

If you come out in the open irregardless of what you say, only then I can find myself at peace.

Realizations!

When I entered this once new ward assignment in January this year, I was a bit sad. Sad because I will no longer be with my Pedia family which I've learned to love and besides, I just went out from a heavy area with lots of patients then I'd be transferred to an area with more than 200 plus patients. I mean, where's justice in that?

I thought all my negative feelings will just do away after some adjustments. But I was wrong. I felt that my confidence level was down and I was never happy during those times.

Then realizations came in late.

I realized that I spent many times thinking bout those negative thoughts and it just gave me a headache, a heartache, got me irritated and pissed ---which were so unhealthy!

Instead of wasting my time on those stuff, it's time I change the way I think.

Now I am enjoying my job. I tried to make the best out of it. I am now more committed to my job and I am after helping my patients. I do not mind anymore about the environment for as long as I am faithfully and religiously doing the tasks required of me. After all, this is what I've lived for. Becoming an 'angel in the sickroom' is the role I have vowed to do for the rest of my life.

Health Worry!

These days, I am experiencing an intermittent pain in my right flank area. The pain is just tolerable and I thought it's just a pain associated with an upcoming menstruation. However, after my mens, the pain is still confined in there. Perhaps my anxiety became an aggravating factor on the pain that I feel. It persisted for weeks and it was only last week when I consulted a physician. I submitted myself to diagnostic tests such as CBC, Fecalysis, & Urinalysis. Both my urinalysis and my fecalysis got normal results except for my CBC where my WBC is a bit high. I still need to see the doctor to let her see my lab results. Right now, I force fluids in my system. I drink lots of water, many liters of water per day. I didn't eat salty foods too! So far, the pain occurs only a few times compared to what I experienced before. I plan to show my results to the MD on Monday and I hope my 'water therapy' could totally help me to get rid of the pain.

4. The wind in the trees, the rain on my skin, gives me a soothing feeling.

Thank God It's Friday!
Can't really count how many Fridays have gone since that one fateful Friday.

As of now, I feel OKAY compared to those past few Fridays. At least, I am okay and happy. However, it's still undeniable that I still miss the person who stayed silent since Feb 1.

I'm still hoping to regain the friendship we once had. Still I'm hoping it could be revived.

Operation Canal Cleanup!

I was in the mood for watering the plants the other day when the sight of a stagnant canal near our house caught my attention. I drew myself near until I could get sight of the garbage in there. I really got pissed knowing that the house help who left us never cared to at least clean it up. With my determination to get rid of Dengue cases in our subdivision, I cleaned it up myself! I was surprised to see some trash thrown in there causing the water to be stagnated. Since it's way hard to pull the trash out because of the cement being encased in the canal, I started to push the trash on the other side so it could be taken out easily. I even lifted that heavy stuff used to cover the canal and oh boy, I felt like lifting a 10 kg-dumbell! I got this sense of fulfillment when I saw the water flowing freely in the canal.

My price for lifting some heavy stuff and cleaning the canal too hard? I have body pains all over my body which is needing a massage right now!
