Out Pamperin' Oneself

Earlier, I was out of the house. I first went to my work place to file my DTR so I can have my salary which is due next week and at the same time I submitted my Performance Evaluation Sheet to my senior nurse. After doing my transactions, I headed straight to a beauty where I had my hair glossed, hot-oiled, and trimmed. It took more than an hour to finish everything including the pedicure service that I also availed of. Since I had a date with my good friend D, we met shortly before dinner at the mall. There we ate at Sym's Gourmet Cafe where I had my Chicken recipe. After eating, we loitered along the mall and windowshopped. After getting tired, we headed to a spa and salon and she had a 1-hour body massage while I only availed their foot massage which I long wanted to have.

Really so good to at least pamper oneself every once in a while. =) Gone too tired now that all I wanted is to just sleep. Work will still be early tomorrow. Can't even make it anymore to still go to the hospital at this very hour. I knew Sir Neil and Maam Ailene would understand why I wasn't there with them now.

Good Night everyone!

And...here we go!

1. It's time for sleeping now.

2. Church; it's not a bad place for crying your heart out when you're so down.

3. I must be tougher these days.

4. Love is the best thing I have ever known.

5. My wish is simply to finally be settled to where I should be.

6. The last time I laughed really loudly was when I chatted with friends.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to sleep early, tomorrow my plans include watching a movie "The Proposal" after work and Sunday, I want to report early for my afternoon duty!

A Bunch Of Stupid Questions By Kimber

Welcome to the July 30th version of Thursday Thunks!
(which we always seem to post on Wednesday)
Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!
This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by
Kimber, the number 14 and the color of life. (2 questions by Ber, figure out which 2.)

1. You are in an enclosed space with a group of friends. Elevator, auto, small room, etc.. You fart and it really stinks. Do you take credit for it or do you play along with the questioning of who did it? *will honestly tell them that it's ME, hahaha! The odor might obviously be coming to where I am situated. My friends will still love me for that, aight? They do fart either, it's just that it has to be me trapped on that enclosed space. =)

2. You are locked in a room sitting at a desk with just a piece of paper and a purple crayon. What do you draw? *perhaps I'll draw a purple-colored gown =)

3. Do you ever pee in the shower? *Of course! Who doesn't? =)

4. Have you bought, sold or got rid of something on Craigslist? *Nope

5. You are in a convenience store. In the line in front of you is a drunk guy trying to purchase more alcohol. The cashier tells him they cannot sell it to him because he is obviously already intoxicated. He gets belligerent. The cashier is scared. What do you do? *I'll call on the security guard to handle such matter.

6. While shopping for produce, do you "sample" before you buy (i.e. grapes)? *Sample first.

7. You are walking down the street and there is a toddler sitting on a bench by themselves in front of a store - do you just keep walking? * I will stop by her, look around who's with her and usher her to whoever the parent or the nanny is.

8. Have you looked up an old friend and/or lover online? *Nope

9. You are nearly in a car/auto accident. Do you freak out, follow the person who nearly caused it & talk to them or just keep going? * Perhaps it will drive the hell out of me. Be freaking out for sure cos I really fear vehicular accidents.

After-Duty Whereabouts

I was on an AM shift earlier. 'Glad because I had a smooth-sailing work shift despite my having back pains. After my endorsement, I hurriedly went out of the hospital vicinity and paved my way to Skycable for my cable subscription payment. Off went my almost 1k to it! I immediately headed to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish to hear the Tuesday late afternoon mass. I was like feeling relieved (again!). I haven't had attended mass celebrations for months and it was a great thing I was able to attend today. After mass, I sent my sister a text message asking her of where she was at that moment. Good thing she was still at the downtown area. I fetched my sister via taxi somewhere near Royal Mandaya Hotel and off we went to Boyd's. We had Isaac's Pasta and pizzas for dinner. We went home straight ahead after pigging out at Boyd's since I can't tolerate my back pain no more. When I got home, immediately I had somebody in the house did a back massage for me. I slept for almost four (4) hours until I woke up this early morning.

Sunday Stealing: The "Leave It to Meme" Meme

Today we ripped this meme off a blogger known as Kyddryn from Shadow and Sweetwater. She claims she stole it from someone on Facebook. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

Cheers to all us thieves!

Sunday Stealing: The "Leave It to Meme" Meme

1. Who was your FIRST date? *First Real date was with GG =) (*reminiscing again!)

2. Do you still talk to your FIRST love? *No.

3. What was your FIRST alcoholic drink? *Red Horse

4. What was your FIRST job? *I was a telemarketer =)

5. What was your FIRST car? * not applicable

10. If you had one wish, what would it be (other than more wishes)? * That I'd be happy with both my personal and career life.

11. What is something you would learn if you had the chance? *Taking every opportunity no matter how hard or easy it takes because these opportunities do knock only once. I got regrets for not taking the risks but have learned to let go.

12. Did you marry the FIRST person you were in love with? *I am still single.

14. What is the first thing you do when you get home? *Take off my footwear. =)

Ambivalence

Lately, I got these feelings with mixed emotions. I feel hopeful about a newly-developed friendship. I get to savor every moment of it and I am happy experiencing it. However, I also am scared - scared to lose it right away without me knowing it. What if the instant communication we had would be filled with gaps or would be lost? What if the person never wants to communicate with me again? What if the person never likes to stay in touch with me again? How can I be so sure that the person will always be around? Tsk Tsk Tsk. I never even knew how far could we get into this friendship. I am just keeping my fingers crossed. If the person is meant to be for me, then let fate take its course in it.

A Godmother Such As Me

Last Sunday, I was lucky enough to be the godmother of my friend, Mike P's daughter Aiyesha Lane. The celebration started with a mass and after the mass, the dedication followed. There were about more than 6 godparents in sight. Being hailed as a godmother is a blessing. This meant that I was chosen to guide the child to grow in Christian ways. I was even glad to see people I knew whom I already considered as my "kumares" and "kumpares". I just hope and pray that I can also be a good example to Aiyesha and even to my other godsons and goddaughters as they go on with life.

Again, Happy Christening Aiyesha! =)

Unforgettable July 18

I attended a wedding reception earlier of a colleague at work who just exchanged vows in marriage to her long time boyfriend. It was a combination of both fun and adventure since Ma'am Ai and I went there caught unaware of where we're heading to since it was our first time to be visiting their place. The most important thing done was we're able to celebrate with her her wedding.

Today, my Ateneo close friend, Joy, also exchanged vows to Baddick in Cavite City. I wasn't able to make it to her wedding because of the distance and I was having a hard time reconciling my work skeds. She knew how I really wanted to be there but later understand my reasons why. I was more than touched having been given a wedding invitation fresh from Manila through a courier service. By heart I knew I was with her when she said her "I Do's".

July 18 also happens to be the birthday of my good friend, Malen who's now making a life in KSA. She just left PI for KSA first week of July. I already greeted her earlier and I sort of missed her already. She knew how precious she is as my friend.

July 18 is also GG's birthday, someone from a few years back who I think is now happily married.

Backward 9 years ago, July 18 was the date I was hired in a wholesale-retail company who's now very famous and is continuosly booming in the city!

Today, July 18 is the day I got the chance to really talk, as in voice per voice, with this FS person I recently knew. :)

ER Mission: Successful!

I was put to test when I had my 2-day ER rotation early this week. I never had any complaints about my being "there". I never even complained about my area assignment. Fortunately, I still felt I was loved because I was assigned to where I really belong which is Pediatrics. I was more than happy enough to endorse these sick kids to the ward which I think was a goal of every ER personnel. Busy as it may seem, I was able to cope with it. My accomplishing such ER tasks may not be as perfect or as great as an ER nurse, but somehow I still stand proud of what I did because I learned things the hard way and take note, on my own. It was like am being placed in a battle where I was really caught unprepared but was able to accomplish the mission being set before me. Personally, what I did was already the best that I could. It may not be the best to those who see me getting busy and to those who subtly scrutinize me but I still feel proud because I served and managed my tasks. Indeed, this accomplishment is something I could be proud of despite the hearsay or the ill-gotten feelings I knew were indirectly said against me. So thankful to the doctors, to my co-relievers, and even my Pedia family for the all out support and the inspiration they gave me during my grueling ER moments.

The Double Stealing Meme

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing. Sunday Stealing originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard of the expression, “honor amongst thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we also have our rules. First, we always credit the blog that we stole it from and we will “fess up” to the blog owner where we stole the meme. We also provide a link to the victim's post. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") We do sometimes edit the original meme, usually to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, sometimes to select that meme's best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from either this new meme or recently asked questions from a prior featured meme. Let's go!

Today we ripped this meme off from two different blogs. For the first time since we have syndicated Sunday Stealing we have stolen two memes today. (During its exclusive run for its first two years on WTIT: The Blog, Bud did this many times.) Our first five questions were ripped from a blogger and blog named Pikohan (avatar above). Pikohan explains that she was tagged to do the meme by Lilly Flower and Koretetsu. Our second meme has 11 phrases for you to complete. It was stolen from Stacie at her blog Stacie’s Madness. She does not explain where she got it. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

Cheers to all us thieves!

It was like facing a trial having been interrogated by the Selection, Placement and Promotion Board the other day while I got that chance to be interviewed by them. My nervousness got into my nerves but later was able to cope up with it. I thought all the while that super difficult questions will be thrown, however, the interview did turn out right. At least I did not have a hard time answering them unlike some of my friends who felt it was the hardest part having been interviewed. Personally, it's all up to them if they'd consider me or not to the said position. At least I was able to impart what stuffs are to be improved and what issues should be given attention to.

Today we ripped this meme off a blog and blogger known as UKOK. She explains that she was tagged by Val on Facebook. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

Cheers to all us thieves!

Welcome to Saturday: 9 . What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

A Weekend Getaway (July 3-4, 2009)

Yesterday, July 3, 2009 Friday, straight after my graveyard shift duty, the unit where I belonged in the workplace headed to a secluded area somewhere in Samal and spent some rest and relaxation there. Despite my being sleepless since I came from a graveyard shift, I was still wide awake until 1:00AM. We had so much fun chatting, playing billiards, taking pictures, spending time on the beach, playing cards, and of course it won't be complete without eating and drinking sessions. It was really the very first getaway that we spent it with the whole staff in the unit. :) I had a really great time with my colleagues. By the way, the place where we stayed is a private beach resort and we got mesmerized by its grandness. The said property has a big area and we got to enjoy all the amenities in there. It's actually closer to home since we're the only visitors occupying the place on those dates.

Note: some pics will be posted soon.

Hold The Knob, Wear Clean Shoes And Enjoy The Insanity!

Welcome to the July 2nd version of Thursday Thunks!
(which we always seem to post on Wednesday)
Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!
This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by
Kimber, the number 14 and the color of your mother's hair dye.

1. When you close a door, do you close it quick and just let it slam or do you hold the knob and slowly shut it tight? *usually, I hold the knob and slowly shut it tight. My ears hurt when doors are being slammed!

2.Train A is moving at 60 miles an hour. Train B is moving at 22 miles an hour. They will pass each other at X time. Now what color shoes are you wearing when train A derails?* Does the color of the shoes matters? :) just kidding. peace!

3. What if M&M's grew on trees? What color M&M tree would you have? *I'd love to have a yellow-colored M&M Tree.

4. How many petals on a flower does it take to make it the perfect bloom? * Perhaps it's six. Really got no idea!

5. I took you to spend $421.67 on you, what did we spend that money on?* a precious getaway with good food and a soothing massage.

6. If you were a squash, what type of squash would you be?* Didn't know squash family has some types. LOL. Well, I'd still choose the sweet pinoy squash grown here in Davao

7. Have you ever gotten a wrong number call and ended up talking to the person for longer than 5 minutes? *I did received a call not from my phone list. The talk lasted for 5 minutes with the other person just talking. The only word I remember saying was "hello".

8. Why haven't you joined Berleen & Kimber at Insanity Cafe yet? Do we stink? *haven't heard of it. My apologies.

9. Now for one of Ber's questions back when TT was brand new... Shampoo bottles say lather, rinse, repeat... do you? *I just lather and rinse. I don't repeat lathering and rinsing again.

10. It's July, the year is half over. Do you see it as "whew that part is over" or best is yet to come? *I often say that the best is yet to come.

11. Why do you do the Thursday Thunks meme?* I love participating in memes.

Working Oldies

I was in the public market this morning, giving extra help in doing marketing stuffs needed for our 2-day getaway which will start tomorrow. While we're out looking for charcoal needed for our grilled fish menu, I spotted this old lady on her late 60s. Being able to see her at that, I decided we buy those from her. She eagerly gathered charcoal in a plastic bag and even added more to it. At her age, she still actively engaged herself at work.

Still this morning while I was heading home, I saw another old lady in her early 60s trying to pave her way in a traffic-prone area, driving a bicycle with a loaded side car full of foods/goods to sell. I can't believed she still managed to do that alone.

The above scenarios did crumple my heart. I am wondering where their families are and why they are left alone doing those type of jobs. Those could have been done by their children or grandchildren or even some family members who are younger. I pity these old women so much. There's nothing wrong with it though but these two, and the rest of the oldies who still work, should have been given the merit to relax, to rest, and not being obliged to work. I guess the economy is still pretty bad making them work hard to survive. *sighs*
